Emulating A Professional Photographer
The Final Project
The photographer I emulated was Steve McCurry. Steve is know for capturing human joy and struggle. He also works with national geographic a lot too. When trying to emulate my photographer, I interpreted the images and made them my own, as well as using the resources around me. I had a lot of fun shooting this photographs which can help me relate to Steve when he is capturing the Joy in those photographs. I also had to climb some trees and be little risky just like Steve when he snuck into a refuge camp. His photographs have a meaning behind the photos he takes and I wanted to do the same for my photos. The first photo is a picture of shoes that I took when I was shopping and it reminded me of the one Steve took. The second one I took were kids sledding and enjoying life when they are young. It also relates to Steves photo because they are both going physical activities of joy in a winter climate. My last photo I took was of my cousin with coffee. She loves coffee and cannot go a day without it. It relates to Steve's photo because the man looks in love with the ice cream he is about to eat.
Course Goals and Achievements
Reflecting back to the beginning of this course, my photography skill improved. I learned more about the different components of photography as well as improving my skill with taking pictures on my phone. This course helped me create photos that have meaning behind them, than just taking a pretty photo. I also learned that photos can fall into more then one category and have multiple meaning. This course also helped me develop more of a creative eye for taking photos. I defiantly stepped out of my comfort zone to capture some of my photos. This course overall helped me be a better photographer.
