PART 1I believe that this is my most successful photo because even though they are the same, but they are different. Steve's photo is taken in the Arctic with people kayaking in the water. My photo is taken in Pennsylvania with people sledding. Both of these photos are taken in cold climates and both show something that people enjoy doing in cold weather. Even though they are done in different lightings and different scenic backgrounds, they both embody the message. The most challenging aspect was finding my own voice without replicating the photo. It is so easy to copy a photo that you like but finding a way to make it you own, to me, is complicated. In the future with my photographic journey is that I want to take photos that will create an emotion when people look at them. The mean behind the photo is the same or more powerful. I want my pictures to tell a story and hope that it will make people think. PART 2I commented on Rachel's blog: https://rachelpeyser.weebly.com/blog
Hi Rachel! I really love this photograph. I'm drawn to your photo because it reminds me of Florida and I love traveling there. I love that you incorporated low perspective in your photo. You have a great composition of color and you can tell the depth because of the clouds in the background. Also your photo looks like it has movement because of the palm trees blowing in the wind. I definitely think you emulated your photographer. Great Job!

Part 1Jim Richardson’s work helped to show me how to understand culture through photography. This has been an area that I’ve been very interested in because when I visit a place I like to learn about the culture around me. It is wonderful to see how a professional captures the world around us. His work also changed my perception by showing the wide range of photographers. He takes risks to achieve the image that he wants the views to see. He allows his photos to create an emotion to the person viewing them and make them think or understand what is going on. McCurry has shown me that instead of taking a photo that is just pretty, it is capable to take a beautiful photo with a meaning to them. He captures the beauty of humanity and nature portraying an emotion with each image. It really showed me that the range of a photographer is endless. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RgrfpvkvmaQ Part 2I commented on Carina's blog: https://carinavv.weebly.com/blog/multimodal-presentation#comment
Youtube video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwOCaV143y0 Hi Carina! I really like your video. The photographer that you focused on was David Hurn. I like the background that gave his photographic history with different types of photography and videography he did. All the photos that you presented followed what he particularly focused on, everyday life. In the photos that you showed in you documentary about David Hurn were photographs that showed joy, historic events in England, human activities and Fashion. This photographer’s work makes me intrigued on how everyday things can be so interesting to learn about. It makes in want to capture everyday life like he did. You did a really good job about critiquing his work. PART 1I believe that this is my most successful photo because it represents my image of what interpretive photo looks like. For me, this represents the struggles and current issues that people are facing every day. It makes the viewer look at this photo and wonder why. I think the most challenging aspect for this challenge was finding images that represent each category because a lot of the photographic categories overlap each other. Some of the categories were easier to depict than others. For my page, for this challenge, I wanted to make a clear description of why I put each photo for that category because some of the images I posted can fall into other categories. In the future this will make me understand the different types of photography and what message I want to portray with each photo. It will help me analyze photos and understand messages that I want to portray to other. It will help me create a reason for taking photographs than just taking a photo. Hi Rachel. Very creative photo. I love that you have contrasting colors and back lighting in your photo. You can see the landscape making it fit under the aesthetically evaluative category. This is an amazing photo! PART 1
I believe that my most successful photo is my side lighting photo. I believe that this is a good representation of side lighting. At the top of the left corner, the light is reflecting off the building, creating a glow. The sun is hitting the side of the building making that the focal point of the image. The most challenging part of this assignment was about learning about colors. I found it difficult to meet the requirements for the color photos. Because it is colder outside is harder to find color. The analogous color photo was the hardest for me to take because I had to find something that had the same color but with variations of that color. In the future I want to use these techniques to create better photographs. I especially enjoyed learning about the lighting and will continue using those techniques in the future. Lighting has such a big part in taking photos and learning about it will definitely help me take better photos. PART 2 I left a comment on Carina’s blog: https://carinavv.weebly.com/blog/dozen-photo-challenge#comments Hi Carina! I really love this image that you took. I am drawn to this photo because of the softness of the colors. The color in this photo creates a pastel effect. It also shows how the exposure of light is not overpowering the but adding a softness to it. The contrast of the lighter colors like the purples contrast nicely with the darker colors. The color from the lighting creates a warm effect. This reminds me of a summer night. An amazing photo taken. |
